A bill in the Alabama Legislature that would allow food truck operators in Birmingham to sell alcohol is getting closer to reality given House lawmakers' approval.
The bill, HB 234, would require food truck owners to pay $300 for a permit to sell within entertainment districts and special events, according to a WEAR-TV report.
"The city of Birmingham will be largely responsible for granting those permits, so they'll be doing that on a case by case basis," Rep. Neil Rafferty of District 54 told the news outlet.
The bill now needs Senate approval and is before the state tourism committee.
