The past year has been exceptionally tough for food truck operators, but more than a few in Alabama are teaming up and extending each other support to help keep their business operations afloat.

Food truck operators in Jefferson County are supporting each other and local business in an effort to keep their enterprises in business, according to a NBC 15 News report.

Food truck operator Kadien Nellums told the news outlet that another challenge is the short supply of ingredients at times.

One big positive is the fact that local neighborhoods are reaching out to food trucks and inviting them in to do business, she said.

"It so happened that you are now able to go to different neighborhoods, neighborhoods that you weren't necessarily able to set up in. They now are letting food trucks come to them because people are working from home. Instead of having to go out, we are now bringing food to you," she told the news outlet.

Some trucks, including Encore Rouge and K&J's Elegant Pastries, are teaming up to draw bigger crowds for each other and local restaurants are helping operators by offering a place to park.

Nellums said food trucks are now allowed to participate in the local restaurant week effort, and that's been a big help.
