Albuquerque's first permanent food truck park opens this week

October 22, 2020

Residents in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will have a new food option come Friday with the opening of the area's first permanent food truck park.

It's part of the expansion taking place at the nearby La Esquinita marketplace driven by a community group called Barelas Community Coalition, according to a KRQE report.

"We always wanted to bring something closer to our main street, so we said we'd love to create an extended opportunity for food trucks and those entrepreneurs who aren't necessarily looking for retail space but who have some of the best food in town," Alejandro Saavedra, board chair of the coalition, told the news outlet.

The project was set to open in the spring, but was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Due to pandemic restrictions the park will house three trucks to start, serving Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
