An app that aims to help people adhere to social distancing while waiting for a food order could end up putting food trucks back on the streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Lawmakers, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, had halted mobile food sales, such as food truck operations, to stop residents from congregating and to enforce home sequestering guidelines in order to stem infection.
But an app, called Best Food Trucks, aims to limit contact between food sellers and customers and even payment is done on a remote level, according to a CBS Local report.
City council members and the city commerce department are researching how the app can help put food trucks back on the road, and if approved, food trucks could be open for business again in a week.
