Baltimore food truck restrictions debate hits the courts

February 5, 2019

A debate regarding food truck restrictions in Baltimore, Maryland, will hit the courtroom today as opposing factions argue whether a ban on trucks operating within 300 feet of restaurants should be revoked or further enhanced.

In Dec. 2017, a Circuit Court judge ruled against a city law that banned food trucks from operating within 300 feet of a business, stating it was too vague in language to enforce.

The city's legal team is asking for that decision to be set aside, according to a Baltimore Sun report, claiming the language is not vague but very clear.

Food truck operators view the ordinance as being preferential to restaurants.

The court decision is not expected for several weeks, stated the report.
