One of the newest food trucks rolling around Pittsburgh launched with one goal in mind — to bring the owner's love of Puerto Rican food to where he lives.
That's what prompted Felipe Crespo, who moved to the Pennsylvania city two years ago, to launch his Seretos de mis Abuelos food truck, according to a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette report.
The truck, which serves lunch and dinner from parking lot of the Miller's Crossing Fleatique off of Crane Avenue in Beechview, was launched for another big reason as well — to honor his grandparents who taught Crespo all their native dishes.
"I had done a little research and found that there isn't much of a Hispanic population here in any concentrated area, and coming from Puerto Rico and Chicago and Florida, there's nothing but Hispanic people all around," Crespo told the news outlet.
His food business initially began as a catering operation and pop-up food experience.
"I have dreams and aspirations to go to medical school but my job is to get this food truck into a self-sustaining business and pass it to my family so they can come up here and have employment and run it," he told the news outlet.
