The leader of the Richmond Food Truck Association, Billy Metzger, has resigned his post after participating in the violent protest at the U.S. Capitol last week.

The group condemned his action in a Facebook statement and called his involvement in the riot activity as an "irresponsible decision," according to a ABC8News report.

The organization's members are also asking that Metzger's food trucks be denied RFTA membership due to his actions.

"The members of the RFTA wish to make it clear that the participation in, and support of, violations of our laws, acts of hatred and acts of sedition are not acceptable and will not be tolerated by the RFTA. The members of the RFTA stand for a society of justice, equality and transparency as to our operations and the standards to which we hold our leadership and members," RFTA wrote in the Facebook post.

Metzger issued an official statement on Facebook claiming he left what he called the "rally" before the violence and chaos began. He also reported his family and business are now receiving threats due to his actions and that he is "deeply sorry."
