The COVID-19 pandemic, which has residents following stay-at-home mandates to reduce exposure, is steering food trucks into new business strategies and goodwill gestures.
One approach is doorstep delivery that's happening in Syracuse, New York, according to a CNY Central report.
The Limp Lizard Bar and Grill is taking its food truck on the road into customer neighborhoods and they're doing it for a good cause — fundraising for a local free meal initiative.
"I have the food truck, we use it all the time and we do different events, but those are now cancelled," Nick Ford, a Limp Lizard Partner, told the news outlet. "We wanted to just get it out on the road and utilize it anyway we can and this is what I came up with."
Residents can book the truck to visit the neighborhood on a given day or call in orders for delivery or pickup. A dollar from each meal ordered will be donated to Meal to the Heroes.
