The StrEATs for Schools program, run through Food Truck Venture, recently staged an event that put the Red's Street Kitchen food truck at the Newton Early Childhood program as part of a fundraising effort. Schools and parent teacher organizations are finding food truck events to be a winning proposition for both local families and school programs in need of funds, according to a Boston Globe report.

The Food Truck Ventures' StrEATs for Schools program matches food trucks with parent teacher groups for fundraising events. Food Truck Ventures operates Neighborhood StrEATs as well, a hyper-local program that brings food trucks to neighborhoods and can fund raise for non-profits, and Food Trucks 2 Go, its catering division for corporations.

"Instead of wrapping paper, now (families) get a meal and an opportunity to help their PTO," Anne-Marie Aigner, founder of Food Truck Ventures, told the news outlet. "Frankly, it's a win-win-win-win."

Three PTOs are currently involved in the program, Aigner said, with two more in discussion.

The program started last October and more than 20 trucks are involved.
