The Yellow Cab Tavern food truck in Dayton, Ohio is switching up its game plan regarding food truck rallies as the U.S. combats COVID-19, the coronavirus pandemic.
The rallies will now be carryout events, according to a Dayton.com report, which will allow truck fans to enjoy cuisine in a safe and healthy approach.
"Small businesses like food trucks generally don't operate over the winter. By the time spring comes, they have used up most of their reserved resources and need to start making money again," said Brian Johnson, event organizer, in a press release, according to the report. "By adjusting our model to carryout, it will provide an opportunity to support these small businesses."
Customers need to call, text or email orders ahead of time if possible and avoid amassing into crowds during pickup, according to the report. There is no eating on site. The rallies take place the third Friday of each month from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
