Entrepreneurs can expect to spend $60,000 to $250,000 to start a food tuck, and they should not expect to turn a profit in the first year, according to Matt Geller, president of the National Food Truck Association. Geller offered his insights about food truck costs in a policygenius.com article.
The startup cost varies greatly, depending on factors, such as local conditions, food truck cost, the quality of the food ingredients and the cooking methods, Geller said.
Operators also need to pass inspections and cover costs for fire and health department inspections and permits. There can also be separate application fees for each event they serve, and such costs vary significantly.
