Madison County, Illinois, considers food truck regulations

October 22, 2018

Since Madison County, Illinois, loosened food truck regulations recently, Edwardsville, a city centrally located in the county just northeast of St. Louis, has been considering how it can also welcome the trucks while protecting the city's brick and mortar restaurants.

A KMOV TV report cited a downtown bakery owner who said she is not opposed to food trucks although she doesn't want to see them parked directly in front of her business.

A diner owner said that if the trucks operate too close to her restaurant, she fears that she will go out of business.

Workers in the warehouse district would welcome the trucks, the report said.

Food options are limited and trucks did operate there before there was stepped up enforcement which said they could only be at special events.

If the process proceeds smoothly, trucks could be out on the streets in about two months, the report said.
