Newport mulls amending of food truck rules

The Newport City Council, mulling over whether to allow food trucks on a specific street in the Rhode Island community, has, for now, tabled the discussion.

At issue is whether to allow food trucks to operate on Bellevue Avenue and the council is considering removing the street from the list of where truck operators could park, according to a Newport Now report.

The move is being challenged by a food truck operator who parks in the area and stipulates he's not breaking any rules as he is parked 250 feet from brick-and-mortar eateries.
