When city officials are done re-vamping Columbus Park in Garfield, New Jersey, the site will also be home to nearly half a dozen food trucks.
The park. which is now mostly ball field, will also boast a picnic patio, amphitheater and splash zone. The food truck park area will be open on weekends, according to a NorthJersey.com report. Hours on Friday will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to a half hour after sunset.
"We're applying for grants to do what we can for the park," Mayor Richard Rigoglioso told the news outlet. "Part of that is these food trucks. The objective is to bring people to the park, and this is the first stage."
Food truck operators will need to attain a $1,000 annual permit and local food trucks will get first option to participate.
In the future the food truck park could be open to 12 food trucks, according to the report.
