The Medford, Oregon city council will move ahead on a provision to allow food trucks to operate on downtown city property in the evening.
Officials are considering allowing trucks to operate from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. on specific streets, according to a KDRV.com report.
Currently, most trucks operate on privately owned spots and are not allowed to remain in a spot overnight.
The initiative has support from food truck operators who say local patrons want more dining options, especially after restaurants are closed, according to the news outlet. Having a set place to operate on a daily basis would help truck operators as well.
"In other big cities there are food truck lots that stay open day to night. Over here at night time we could do something really awesome and bring more people here downtown," Christian Ainzuain, owner of Peruvian Point, told KDRV.
