San Francisco home to latest food truck race season

San Francisco will be the host of the next season of "The Great Food Truck Race," a Food Network reality competition show.

All six episodes will be filmed in the City by the Bay, according to a Mercury News report, a first time for the popular series.

"This is an ideal location for this program," Joe D'Alessandro, president and CEO of San Francisco Travel, said in a statement. "San Francisco is one of the top culinary cities in the world. Food trucks are already part of our culture, with loyal followers on top of the latest in mobile cuisine."

The show pits food truck operators against each other in a range fo challenges with the winner awarded $50,000.
