Seattle food trucks hit by burglaries and vandalism

March 5, 2018

Property crime has increased in western Washington, and food truck operators have been among the victims, according to Q13Fox. More than a dozen Seattle food truck operators recently wrote an open letter to the mayor and city council asking for help in the fight against property crime.

Syd Suntha, owner the Bread and Circuses food truck and restaurant in Sodo, said in the last three to fourth months, his food truck has been vandalized or burglarized 40 to 50 times. He said he cannot afford to install a security fence around his food truck lot.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said deputies in January responded to 57 percent more vehicle prowls and 33 percent more non-residential burglaries than normal for this time of year.
