The recent decision by federal officials to allow food trucks at interstate rest stops has led to the first food truck at Cheyenne, Wyoming's Interstate 25 Welcome Center.
The food truck, G-Licious Catering of Cheyenne, serves up breakfast and lunch options, including burgers, according to a Wyoming News report.
Up until the advent of the coronavirus the state's department of transportation did not allow any vendor to sell food or items at interstate rest stops. But as COVID-19 has shuttered most dine-in options for truckers and travelers the state created a special permit allowing food trucks to serve those passing through on the interstate.
"We are pleased we are able to offer motorists this service at our rest areas," WYDOT Director K. Luke Reiner said in a press release. "This service is for all motorists, but it is especially vital for our commercial truck drivers who are transporting critical supplies and food in our state and throughout our nation. Without those dedicated men and women, our nation would not be able to function."
