Brainerd, Minnesota expands food truck areas

The Brainerd City Council in Minnesota has approved additional spaces for food trucks in the community. The updated ordinance allows food trucks to operate out of the Traditional Neighborhood-2 district, according to a report by Brainerd Dispatch.

Previously the ordinance only allowed food trucks to operate in commercial districts. It came about due to Thamrong Dechawuth, owner of Chick N Rise, Drunken Noodle and Blue Oyster restaurants, who asked for an amendment to operate a food truck on his property.

The ordinance also mandates generators not operate more than a half hour outside normal operating hours, and food trucks must not operate on properties that are exclusively for residential use.
