The Garfield Township of Michigan changed its zoning codes to enable food trucks to operate within the town, according to a report by Traverse Ticker.
The township had previously banned all food trucks from operating in its borders. Bryan Roth, owner of Atomic Marketplace, petitioned the council to allow food trucks to operate, as they would benefit his business. The ordinance allows food trucks to operate via an "accessory" for a business in commercial zoning districts.
Food trucks will need to acquire a license annually for $300 and receive zoning approval before setting up.
