Gardner, Illinois, is currently developing a food truck ordinance to allow trucks to operate in the village. Mayor Mike Serena said the town previously didn't have any ordinances regarding food trucks, according to a report by WSPY News.com.

"Our thing is just to make sure that everybody is safe. Make sure that they come and register with the village. Make sure that we have all their information in case there is something that goes on," Serena said in the report. "You know how it is with food. I mean, you hear all the time, this store had bad lettuce or this store had something in their meat and they do a big recall. With a food truck, they're here and gone and we have no idea. And, actually, they have to have Grundy County Health Department okay."

He added that they are considering how high to make fees, and the village will consider limits on how many food trucks can be in one area at a time, especially in the Route 66 corridor.
