Food trucks to serve in Iowa beer hall

The Foundry, a combination German-style beer hall, distillery and commissary serving a rotating group of food truck fare, will fill a one-time rail car repair shop in West Des Moines, Iowa, according to The Des Moines Register.

The hall opens on October 21.

Jorgen Jensen, a Denver developer and a Des Moines resident, has teamed with Rock Island Development Co., Denver-based Slate Urban Development and a group of local businesses on the project.

Nick Kuhn, a food truck owner and the owner of Beerhouse in Urbandale, will manage the hall, which will be filled with 24 10-foot wood tables made from cargo car planks and will seat about 285.

Food trucks that will serve food on a rotating basis include Banh ME, Gastro Grub, Macubana, Top Bun, Curbin' Cuisine, Karam's Mediterranean Grill and The Big Red Food Truck. Customers will order from kiosks in the beer hall or by mobile phone and pick up their orders at the bar.
