Scammers targeted a food truck operator in San Diego by using a fake website for a December Nights event. Jerry Villasenor, owner of Tiki's Shaved Ice & Ice Cream said he was tricked by a scammer, according to a report by NBC San Diego.

He said he received an email from someone claiming to be event organizer Christy Nunes. The website in the link also looked official. He paid an invoice through Zelle, but his bank flagged it as fraudulent.

After contacting the city and unable to reach someone who organized the event, he realized he had been scammed.
