Food truck businesses are booming in Las Vegas, Nevada with food truck license registrations up 20%.
And one big trend in play is renting a food truck, rather than buying one outright, according to a KRDO report.
The city's business license manager, Darcy Adelbai-Hurd, said the demand reflects how it's much easier to get started in the food truck business. And renting a truck is part of the ease, according to Jonathon Ibarra, CEO of Ibarra's Food Truck Builders.
"The biggest thing right now is the rent-a-food truck. This gives the people the opportunity to start the business at a very low cost," Ibarra told the news outlet.
When he launched his company it was doing one to two builds a year. Now production is at 20 trucks every 90 days.
"A lot of these guys — their dreams have always been to start their own business and their own food trucks — chefs, restaurants. So by them being laid-off, they finally pulled the trigger and went into the food truck, so that really skyrocketed," Ibarra said.
The city has a web page dedicated to getting into the food truck business.
