Stockton, California, recently got its own food truck plaza: the Stockton Food Plaza Owned by Steve Ramsey, who also operates the Lathrop Truck Plaza, the alcohol-free, family-friendly site features 55 shaded tables, power hookups, security guards, and upgraded restroom facilities, according to a report by Record.net.
The plaza occupies a former used-car lot and can host up to 40 trucks and nine vendor buildings. Currently 60% to 70% full, the open-air court offers a wide variety of cuisines, including Mexican, Italian, Filipino, Indian, Salvadoran, and desserts. Notable vendors include Tacos La Unica and Padella Italiana.
"We're just getting our feet wet here in Stockton," Ramsey said in the report.
Local leaders have welcomed the project, which officially opened Oct. 8. Timm Quinn, CEO of the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce, highlighted its support for small businesses, while San Joaquin County District 4 Supervisor Steven Ding called it a strong economic development initiative for North Stockton.
The plaza is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., though individual food truck hours vary.
