The Wyo Donut Company recently opened in Casper, Wyoming, serving sourdough donuts made fresh each weekend, according to a report by Oil City News.
Founder Christine Trumbull launched the business after trying sourdough donuts from the Yoder Donut Company and purchasing their recipe. Wanting a lower-overhead alternative to a brick-and-mortar shop — and the flexibility to serve surrounding towns—she spent a year researching how to start a food truck. Her husband and daughter also work on the truck.
Trumbull starts her workday at 4 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, setting up by 5 a.m. to prepare the dough and fry batches fresh before opening the window at 7:30 a.m. In addition to her signature classic glaze, she offers three rotating seasonal flavors each week including caramel apple pie, banana cream pie and cinnamon roll. She only offers four options at a time for space.
The Sourdough Donuts truck typically operates on Saturdays at the east-side Walmart and Sundays at the Ace Hardware on CY Avenue. Updates and location changes are posted on the Wyo Donut Company Facebook page.
